In February 2026, Xicheng District, Beijing’s core functional zone, released the bilingual travel brochure Wander in Xicheng to better serve inbound tourists.

As the cradle of Beijing’s 3,000-year city history and 870-year capital history, Xicheng hosts two UNESCO World Heritage Sites—the Beijing Central Axis and the northern end of the Grand Canal. It houses key national authorities, China’s national financial management center (Financial Street), and the only national-level fintech demonstration zone, blending profound heritage with modern vitality.

The brochure selects about 50 cultural and tourist sites, organized into six sections: Attractions, Citywalk, Culture, Cuisine, Hotels, and Travel Tips.

Cuisine recommends classic Beijing flavors like Peking duck, instant-boiled mutton, and traditional snacks, plus international dining options.

Hotels lists premium accommodations from international chains to courtyard boutique hotels.

Practical Travel Tips include addresses of time-honored restaurants, tax-refund shopping malls, and intangible cultural heritage shops, along with a hand-drawn tourist map and Beijing subway map for easy navigation.

Xicheng invites global travelers to discover its imperial legacy, hutong charm, culinary delights, and dynamic modern spirit.
