China’s northernmost high-speed railway — the Harbin–Yichun High-Speed Railway officially opened today (28 Sep 2026).

Cutting through the forests of the Lesser Khingan Range and crossing permafrost zones, this 318km rail line runs at a design speed of 250 km/h, with 9 stations along the route. Yichun West Station is China’s highest-latitude high-speed rail station to date.

Travel time from Harbin to Yichun is shortened to around 2 hours; Harbin to Tieli takes just 1 hour 14 mins, and Harbin to Suihua only 42 minutes.

The new line brings Suihua and Yichun into the high-speed rail era, expands Harbin’s 2-hour transport circle, improves Northeast China’s rail network, boosts tourism & eco-resources along the corridor, and supports the comprehensive revitalisation of Northeast China.
