At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on the morning of August 13 under the themed series "Launching the 15th Five-Year Plan Period", the Ministry of Ecology and Environment briefed the public on advancing the building of a Beautiful China in an all-round way.

Xu Bijiu, Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, said China’s air quality has witnessed notable improvements, with blue skies and white clouds becoming a common sight.

He noted that in 2025, the national average concentration of PM2.5 fell to 28 micrograms per cubic meter, a 59% drop compared with 2013. The proportion of days with heavy air pollution declined to 0.9%, marking the best level since relevant monitoring began.

Beijing has also seen striking progress. Xu pointed out that the city’s PM2.5 concentration stood at 89.5 micrograms per cubic meter in 2013 and dropped to 27 micrograms per cubic meter last year, representing a 70% reduction.
