In late January, Stella and I embarked on an amazing and unforgettable tour of Hong Kong and Macau, along with nine other clients from Cyprus. This was our first visit to Hong Kong and Macau, and the entire journey was highly enjoyable and memorable. Now I would like to share some beautiful scenery of our trip.
D1-19 January 2026 Zhengzhoudong-Hong Kong West Kowloon
On the first day, we traveled from Zhengzhou to Hong Kong by high-speed train, a journey lasting 5 hours and 51 minutes. After clearing customs, we took the MTR to our destination. Hong Kong’s transportation is very convenient. After a short rest at the Harbour Plaza North Point, we had dinner at a nearby restaurant, named Moon Palace望月楼. This Cantonese restaurant served excellent dishes such as stir-fried rice noodles with beef干炒牛河, honey-stewed BBQ pork蜜汁叉烧, and sesame rolls芝麻卷, all of which were delicious.

After breakfast, we began our day by taking the one-way Peak Tram to Victoria Peak, the highest point on Hong Kong Island. From there, we enjoyed an iconic panoramic view of Victoria Harbour, the Kowloon peninsula, and the surrounding mountain ranges. We visited during the day, but the nighttime scenery is said to be even more spectacular. Next, we explored Aberdeen, once widely known for its traditional fishing village. Today, its harbor is a lively mix of private yachts and leisure boats, featuring few floating restaurants and remaining a popular destination for visitors. We then traveled by coach to Repulse Bay, an upscale residential area with a beautiful, family-friendly beach, followed by a stop at the bustling Stanley Market for shopping. In the evening, we took a leisurely stroll along the Avenue of Stars before boarding the Aqualuna for a 45-minute evening harbour cruise. The cruise showcases Hong Kong’s spectacular illuminated skyline and key landmarks from the water, offering an unforgettable nighttime perspective of the city’s vibrant harbor.

After breakfast, we headed to Lantau Island. Our shuttle took us from Tung Chung first to the traditional fishing village of Tai O, then to the majestic Tian Tan Buddha. We first explored Tai O village, a traditional fishing village on the western coast of Lantau Island. Stepping into this community feels like a journey back in time. Generations of fisher folk have lived here in distinctive stilt houses built over the water, creating a unique and tightly-knit riverside settlement. The area offers a glimpse into local history, complete with charming heritage buildings, walking paths, and authentic local snacks.
Next, we visited the renowned Tian Tan Buddha, also known as the Big Buddha. This majestic bronze statue sits serenely at an elevation of 482 meters on the Ngong Ping plateau. The site provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and sea. Adjacent to the statue is the Po Lin Monastery, a key Buddhist center in Hong Kong. The monastery complex features beautiful traditional architecture, peaceful courtyards, and houses various sacred statues and artifacts. It was really a wonderful and enjoyable day.

D4-22 January 2026
Today, we took a ferry to Macau. Our first stop was the Lotus Flower in Full Bloom. As the city flower of Macau, the lotus is represented here by a striking gilded bronze statue. The golden lotus in Golden Lotus Square consists of a stem plus several petals and stamens. Next, we visited the Statue of Kun Iam (Goddess of Mercy), a 20-meter-tall bronze figure overlooking the sea. Perched on a 7-meter lotus base, the statue depicts the revered deity believed to protect fishermen and seafarers. Its serene presence creates a striking and spiritual silhouette against the waterfront. We then explored the historic Ruins of St. Paul’s. Adjacent to Mount Fortress and the Macau Museum, the intricate stone carvings and grand staircase remain a powerful symbol of Macau’s colonial and cultural past. Our day concluded at the Venetian Macao Resort, a vibrant integrated destination inspired by the canals and architecture of Venice. The resort features extensive shopping avenues and a variety of dining options. It was a full and fascinating day exploring the unique blend of culture, history, and modern entertainment that defines Macau.

This concluded our tour. The next day, we took the high-speed train back to Zhengzhou—a truly memorable journey.
